Where AI helps in customs clearance
Customs clearance is heavy on documents and data. AI takes sorting and data entry off the back office: documents are classified and the relevant fields are prepared, instead of everything being transferred by hand.
HS code suggestions with a rationale
VECTIS suggests suitable HS codes, the commodity codes of the Harmonised System on which the customs tariff number is based, including a rationale, so that your customs specialist can follow the classification and approve it. A suggestion with context instead of unchecked automation.
EUR.1, A.TR, supplier's declarations
Proofs of preference and declarations are prepared: EUR.1 certificates, A.TR and supplier's declarations. The data is ready to carry over into the declaration.
Customs declaration via CargoSoft
The prepared data flows into the customs declaration, which runs via CargoSoft, for export and import in ATLAS, the IT system of the German customs administration (Automatisiertes Tarif- und Lokales Zoll-Abwicklungssystem, an automated tariff and local customs clearance system), without entering it again by hand. PULSE does not submit declarations to ATLAS itself; it prepares the declaration. The connection to DAKOSY and dbh is to follow.
Working with FINUS, operated in Germany
Customs and incoming invoices are often linked. Because VECTIS and FINUS run on the same platform, the cases connect instead of sitting in separate tools. Customs documents that arrive by email are already recognised by CURA in the inbox; see email automation for freight forwarders. Processing takes place on our own infrastructure in Germany, with open models and GDPR-compliant; more in GDPR-compliant AI for logistics.
